History B.A. Learning Outcomes

LOWER DIVISION, GENERAL

Students should be able to:

  • Identify history as an interpretive account of past supported by evidence
  • Apply chronological reasoning
  • Understand and pose historical questions
  • Identify primary and secondary sources in relation to a historical question
  • Undertake basic online/library research and critical reading

UPPER DIVISION, GENERAL

Students should be able to:

  • Read, discuss and analyze historiography
  • Put primary and secondary sources in dialogue to form an argument
  • Identify and practice different forms of historical writing and presentation
  • Employ research skills to locate relevant primary and secondary sources
